Athletic Department Mission Statement

The mission of the Winter Springs High School Athletics Department is to facilitate programs of excellence as defined by the Florida High School Athletic Association. By implementing a holistic approach that balances family, academics, and athletics, we will nurture the development of social responsibility and encourage the pursuit of post graduation career paths and athletic aspirations.  We will focus on providing for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, our staff, and our fans and spectators.  We value the lessons taught by athletic participation, and seek to develop the personal, ethical, physical, and intellectual skills necessary for success beyond graduation.  Additionally, our staff and student-athletes will exhibit pride, respect, and integrity while representing our athletics department, our school, and our community.

Athletic Director Message

Dear Parents, Student-Athletes, Community Supporters, and Visitors:

Steve Luppert

Welcome to Winter Springs High School Athletics, home of the BEARS!  It is an exciting time to be a part of the Bear Athletic Family, as our student-athletes and coaches continue to achieve in the classroom, succeed in competition, and demonstrate leadership within our community.  Our Department philosophy focuses on providing for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, our staff, and our fans and spectators.  We value the lessons taught by athletic participation, and seek to develop the personal, ethical, physical, and intellectual skills necessary for success beyond graduation.

Athletic participation at Winter Springs is a privilege.  Our student-athletes are held to a higher standard of excellence, both in academics and within our community.  Representing Bear Athletics necessitates accepting responsibility for leadership on campus and in the community, as well as demonstrating sportsmanship during competition.  Taking pride in wearing the purple and gold is an expectation and a proud tradition we embrace!

As a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), and the Seminole Athletic Conference (SAC), we compete within the guidelines established by both of these entities.  Annually, it is important that all current and prospective student-athletes meet all of the eligibility and compliance regulations outlined by the Department.  This will ensure for a positive and memorable athletic experience here at Winter Springs.

We appreciate any and every relationship your choose to have with our various athletic programs.  Whether your commitment is attending events, financially contributing, sponsoring BEAR Athletics and becoming a partner, or volunteering, we are deeply grateful you have chosen to support the Bear Athletic Family.  For our Athletic Alumni, we appreciate your prior contributions and efforts. Your presence and support is significant to our continued success.

Finally, I am proud to be a part of the outstanding tradition established since our inception back in 1997.  Please know that contacting our Department staff and Coaches is encouraged.  Your input and suggestions are always welcomed
and appreciated.

GO BEARS!

Respectfully,

Steven J. Luppert
