Seminole County Information

Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is ranked 7th out of 67 districts on total points achieved on FCAT reading, math, writing and science scores, according to a district FCAT Rankings report released on January 23, 2012, by State Commission of Education, Gerard Robinson. This ranking also indicates that SCPS is the highest performing district in Central Florida.

Seminole County Public Schools is very proud to have earned this recognition. Achieving recognition as a top performing district reflects the professionalism and expertise of Seminole County Public School teachers, administrators, and support staff, as well as the dedication of our students, families and community. We recognize that preparing students for success in a global economy requires the ability to be change adept, not inept, and that readiness for college and careers is measured by a wide array of student, school and district indicators.

In addition to being rated by the Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) as an "A" rated district since the inception of district grades in 1999, Seminole County Public Schools is also named an Academically High-Performing District by the FL DOE. Of the districts 58 schools, 94% (54) earned an A or a B grade. SCPS ranks in the top tier of student performance and business efficiency as evidenced by the following accomplishments.

    * SCPS Graduation Rate is 93.3%-Highest in Central Florida and 4th Highest in the State.
    * SCPS SAT scores are 40 points above the national average and 93 points above the state average.
    * All SCPS high schools are ranked in the top 4% nationwide by Newsweek Magazine.
    * SCPS was recently named to the College Board's Advanced Placement Honor Roll for the second year in a row, one of only three districts nationwide to receive this honor.
    * SCPS received the Metro Orlando EDC Industry Innovation Award for initiating programs designed to prepare graduates for careers in industries targeted by the EDC.
    * SCPS is ranked #1 in the State in the percentage of its budget spent in the classroom.
    * SCPS was ranked #1 in the State in a "Return on Educational Investment" (ROEI) in a national study conducted by the Center for Education Progress.
    * 96% of the SCPS budget is spent at the school level.
