Dr. Michael R. Blasewitz |
Dr. Michael Blasewitz is in his 31st year in public education. This is his eighth year at the helm of Winter Springs High School and his 23rd year as a principal. Prior to joining the Seminole County family in 2004 he served students in Orange County for 23 years. Dr. Blasewitz received his Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education degree from Florida State University in 1979. He received his Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova University in 1987. In 1996 he received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Blasewitz has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences on topics such as school improvement, law studies, literacy strategies for reluctant readers, data analysis, professional learning communities, and school law. He is an active member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Florida Association of School Administrators, the Seminole Association of School Administrators, and Phi Delta Kappa Educational Association. In addition, Dr. Blasewitz is an adjunct professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Central Florida. He was named 2011Seminole County Principal of the Year. Dr. Blasewitz has been married to his wife Helena for thirty two years. They have three children. His hobbies include reading, golf, exercise, and spending time at high school events. Gisela Cotto is in her 32nd year in public education. She received her Bachelors of Arts in English, specializing in English as a second language in 1979 from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Ms. Cotto received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida in 1992. Ms. Cotto began her teaching career in Puerto Rico as an English teacher. She moved to Florida in 1985 when she started to work for Seminole County Public Schools. Through her 26 year career, Ms. Cotto served 16 years as an elementary, middle and high school teacher for speakers of other languages. For 9 years, she has served as part of the administrative staff for the Lake Brantley High School. While serving the LBHS community she was a Dean, Assistant Principal and Summer School Principal. Ms. Cotto is an active member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Florida Association of School Administrators, Seminole Association of School Administrators and ALAS (Association of Latino Administrators). Recently, she participated and presented at the ALAS conference with a team of Seminole County Public School administrators. Ms. Cotto’s hobbies include reading, sharing time with her daughters, Sarah and Cheryl, and enjoying time with her friends. Ms. Cotto became a proud Winter Springs Bear on September 18, 2009. |

Dennis McComb |
Dennis McComb is in his 40th year in public education. This is his first year as assistant principal at Winter Springs High School. Prior to being employed by the Seminole County school system in 2010 as a Mathematic/ESE teacher, he served students in Volusia County for 38 years. He was an administrator at the secondary level for 26 of those 38 years. Dennis has been married to his wife JoAnne for forty two years. They have two children and four grand children.

Ms. Monte Carlo holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in English Education and Reading from the University of Central Florida as well as certification in Administration. She taught English and reading at Oviedo and Lake Mary High Schools before joining the Bears at Winter Springs. In addition, she has been a department chair, a swimming coach and an adjunct instructor at UCF. She has presented workshops on the teaching of reading and writing at district, state and national conferences. Her duties here include overseeing the Advanced Placement and the Reading programs, supervising the Language Arts and Social Studies Departments, coordinating graduation and placing student interns. She has two children, Erin who is an English teacher in Duval County and Jordan who is a chef in Orlando. Her father is a recently retired professor emeritus at UCF. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, ballet and ballroom dancing. |

Mrs. Jaime Washington is in her eighth year in public education and her third year at Winter Springs High School. She supervises ROTC and the science and social studies departments, acts as coordinator for dividends, catering, field trips, and fundraising, oversees the business partners, Bear Necessities newsletter, Positive Behavior Support program, School Advisory Council, PTSA, textbooks, Teacher of the Month/Year, and the Monday Growl, and serves as Director of Student Activities. She welcomes parents and students to stop by with any concerns, questions, or comments. Her educational belief is that all students should be globally competitive and ambassadors for social change. |

Octavius Clark |
Mr. Clark began his educational career as one of the original faculty members to open the doors of Winter Springs H.S. during the fall of 1997. Mr. Clark is a native son of Central Florida and graduated from Seminole H.S. in 1979. He is proud to claim that he was born in Seminole County , attended Seminole High School and graduated from Florida State University ! A former world class track and field athlete and three time All-American. Mr. Clark shattered middle distance records while a student athlete at Florida State . 1991 was a year of phenomenal achievements in academics and in athletics. Mr. Clark received his Masters degree in Educational Administration from National University in San Diego , California . He also received a Gold Medal in the Pan American Games held in Havana , Cuba and presented by President Fidel Castro. In 1999 he coached the girls track team to a state championship and his 4x800 relays have won three state titles. A true Patriot to his country, having served at the Southeast Air Defense Sector protecting the skies over the United States after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 . He is also a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves and a veteran of the Iraq war. Mr. Clark has two daughters Cierra and Carina. | |

Matt Hesselbart is in his 14th year at Winter Springs and is one of the original faculty members to open Winter Springs High School in 1997. Prior to Mr. Hesselbart serving as Dean of Students He taught Business and Computer Education courses. |
