12th Grade Classroom Presentations and Individual Senior Credit Checks Information:

On Friday, September 2, the WSHS Student Services Department mailed out each Senior a “Class Summary” report, a “WSHS Graduation Requirements” Self-Check Sheet and Bright Futures Scholarship Information. To keep you informed on the current credit status for graduation, this information is being provided for your review. The Class Summary Report shows courses students have taken during their high school years. If applicable, you will also see middle school courses for which the student received high school credit on the Class Summary report as well. Please note that parents and students have access to this information as well through your Skyward account under the “Graduation Requirements” link.

Counselors will be visiting all 12th grade English classes on Tuesday, September 7. The purpose of this visit is to review pertinent information. During the month of September and October counselors will begin reviewing Senior credit checks individually with your student through their English classes. If your student does not have an English class on campus, please have your student book an appointment with his/her counselor on Tuesday or Friday, beginning September 13 - October 8.

GOAL Program students will be meeting with Mrs. Abel, the Program Coordinator to complete their Senior Credit Check.

The purpose of a Senior Credit Check is your special opportunity to meet one-one-one with your Certified School Counselor to determine if you are on track to graduate and to discuss your plans after graduation. When you meet with your counselor, it will be beneficial to both you and your counselor if you have an idea of what you would like to do so that your Counselor can provide you with the best, appropriate information to ensure your success. If you do not know yet, NO WORRIES… You and your counselor will discuss some of your interests and help you to establish a plan of action that will best suit you.

Please read through the Senior Resource Guide which is located below that Counselors have worked diligently to put together for you. Please write down some questions that you or your parent(s) may have to discuss with your Counselor. The best tips counselors can provide you is to check your school email and Skyward accounts at least 3 times per week, stay in communication with your assigned Counselor, check your Bright Futures’ portal, if applicable at various times during the school and prior to starting college, stay updated with your college/university admission applications through your established portal.

Our goal is to ensure you are on track to graduate in addition to having a plan after graduation. If you have questions after your one-on-one, please do not hesitate to email your counselor.
