2020 - 2021 Bell Schedule

July 28, 2020

Dear WSHS Students and Families:

Good afternoon WSHS Community!  I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy and enjoying their summer!

One of the safe guards to the SCPS Reopening Plan (Section 5.1) is for all schools to limit the amount of transitions students have throughout the day on campus..

5.1 of the SCPS Reopening Plan reads as follows:

Safeguards for Classrooms The following strategies will be utilized in SCPS classrooms: At secondary, minimize the number of student transitions during the school day.

Last week, we worked through our Bell Schedule with the goal of limiting transitions and student gatherings, while maintaining a good instructional schedule for our students and teachers.  We were able to develop our schedule to have block scheduling each day.

Please see attached bell schedule that will be in use for the 2020-21 School Year.  Please NOTE:  This is always subject to change throughout the year based upon many factors.

2020 - 2021 Bell Schedule

This bell schedule will very much limit and reduce our student transitions and student gatherings.

We established a “Bear Period” on Wednesday afternoons that will assists us in meeting the needs of some student educational requirements (IE: social emotional curriculum/mental health curriculum) that are expected for the 2020-21 school year.   We will assign students a teacher and classroom for this “Bear Period”.

I know you will have so many questions about how your student schedule will work (IE: F2F, Seminole Connect, Hybrid) within this schedule.  Mr. Hunter, our Master Scheduler, and our WSHS Counselors will start digging into the schedule now that we have our student selections starting tomorrow, Monday, July 27!

Please know and understand this year will be like no other.  We are in unchartered waters!  Stay positive, stay supportive of our WSHS community, and we WILL, as a community get through this.  It will not be easy, but we will prevail.

If you have any additional questions please let us know.  Thank you!

GO BEARS!

Mr. Gaffney, Principal, WSHS
