Student Laptop Distribution
Coronavirus Update #13: A Message from Superintendent Walt Griffin
Dear SCPS Families & Staff:
Student Digital Device Checkout has been running smoothly this week. We wish to thank all our families for your patience and understanding throughout this process. Students who are not currently eligible for or who do not receive Free or Reduced lunch, but who are in need of a laptop for Distance Learning, may visit their school of attendance to check-out a device while supplies last. Please contact your school for device check-out times.
We will continue laptop distribution through Friday, March 27, 2020, for our Elementary, Middle, and High School Students who are currently eligible for and receive Free or Reduced lunch and are in need of a computer for Distance Learning at the following distribution sites from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Lake Brantley, Lake Howell, Lake Mary, Lyman, Seminole, & Winter Springs. However, as a reminder, because our resources are limited, these devices are only for families who do not have a device for their child to work on at home and only one laptop will be issued per household.
A parent or guardian signature will be required to pick-up a laptop. Laptops are for check-out only, with the expectation that they be returned to the school district. Picture identification from the parent/guardian will be required. The school will verify Free & Reduced Lunch and enrollment status along with parent/guardian identification during the check-out process. In addition, this process will adhere to current safety guidelines. The parent/guardian should wait in their vehicle until a school representative comes to the vehicle to begin the check-out process.
