Mrs. Kristi Draus is not from the central Florida area, as she grew up moving around the country in an Air Force family. She attended the first two years of high school in Misawa, Japan, and finished in northern California. She was the first to graduate from college in her family, attending first junior college and then earning a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of West Florida and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Stetson. She’s been in education since 2007, teaching English, student government, reading, and coaching cheerleading. She spent time as a discipline dean, writing coach, and assistant principal with Orange County Public Schools before making the jump to Seminole County Public Schools to be a Winter Springs Bear. At Winter Springs, Mrs. Draus supervises English, reading, ESOL, and World Languages departments. She also oversees the Young Men and Women of Excellence programs, coordinates our Bear Connections mentoring program, and is the director of the BEAR Academy for incoming ninth graders. Additionally, Mrs. Draus partners with SGA and other groups on campus to oversee and help coordinate school-wide Student Activities.
Mrs. Draus and her husband, Jesse, have one son, Beckham, and spend their time riding bikes, watching movies, and playing soccer.
