The Lady Bears Varsity Lacrosse Team won their third straight District title and 4th title in five years by defeating the fifth ranked team in the state, Oviedo 20-12.
After running out to a 6-0 lead in the first 5 minutes, the Lady Bears cruised the rest of the way over the stunned Lady Lions and never looked back. Winter Springs was led by Senior Captain Alley Rhinehart's 7 goals. Sophomore sensation Anne L'Heureux added 5 more goals giving her 95 for the season. Jr. Kris Coppolino continued her fine season by adding 3 goals and 1 assist despite being face guarded most of the night. Senior Captain Kenna Wick added to her WS all time scoring mark with 2 more. Jess Alwinson chipped in one goal and led the team with two assists.
Sr Captain Amanda Guthrie played Wonder Woman on defense coming up with loose balls and stifling Oviedo's main scoring threats. Amanda even found time to contribute a goal.
The Lady Bears continue their march towards a State Championship with a home regional game Tuesday at 7pm against Gainesville's Buchholz HS.
The winner of Tuesdays game will host Ponte Vedra on Friday for this years Regional Championship.
